On December 2 at about 12 noon, 2 individuals were observed female mergansers (Mergus merganser ) in Lake San Lorenzo . As you can see in the image obtained is clearly observed tooth from the tip of the beak, and the contrast between the dark orange of the head and neck gray.
The event is unique and very valuable because it is an accidental species (there are very few citations for the species in Spain) whose appearance is often related to intense cold waves.
Within the genus Mergus, is the red-breasted merganser (Mergus serrator ) that usually hibernate, although with limited effective in the Marshes of Txingudi.
Unfortunately, we are spending several days with no trace of mergansers.
