On Friday 17 and Saturday 18 are held in Donostia the Second International Conference on Conservation of Amphibians. While the first conference, held back in 2002, focused on the southern frog (Hyla meridionalis ), this time the target species has been the natterjack toad (Bufo calamita ).
This species widespread in Europe, presents, however, populations are in a precarious situation. A good example is the existing population in the Marshes of Txingudi.
management staff Txingudi Marshes attended the event in order to deepen the knowledge of this species and, thus, to apply appropriate management measures that deserves this amphibian listed as vulnerable in the Basque Catalogue endangered species.
From here, a salute to Ion Garin, Alberto Gosa, Xabier Rubio and other people involved for their efforts and good work towards the conservation of amphibians.
