Google launches service to find
Google placed a tsunami alert in its generally spartan home page and launched a tool to help find victims of the powerful earthquake and subsequent tsunami that devastated Japan on Friday, as quoted by AFP news agency .
"tsunami waves are expected in the Pacific region, caused by the earthquake (magnitude) 8.9 in Japan," said the message posted just below the search field.
The Internet giant also launched a page response to the crisis caused by the devastating earthquake, entitled "Google Crisis Response", in: google.com/crisisresponse/japanquake2011.html.
The tool includes a "people-finder English and Japanese that allows users to request and provide information about individuals.
Google generally makes available maps, communications and other online tools after natural disasters, but it is unusual to place a message on your homepage.
